About Sesatre Bansure

Stage Name: SESATRE / SESATRE BANSURE
Instrument : Bansuri, North Indian Bamboo Flute

SESATRE’S BACKGROUND
SESATRE was born in Malaysia into a family of musicians originating from Chitambaram in South India. He began playing the Bansuri when he was just 7 years old and he has now established himself as one of the leading Bansuri players in Asia.

Sesatre received his first instruction on his musical journey from his father K Krishnan and siblings Ravi, Raja, Steven and Abraham. His later Gurus included Azman Ahmad, S.Manimaran, Ramanathan, Master Shivabarathi, the former RTM composer RPS Raju and Boyradge.

Inspired by the legendary Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia from North India, Sesatre mastered the art of releasing the divine sound of his Bansuri.

Visiting Sadhus from India have been inspiring Sesatre to compose and play peaceful harmonious meditation music, whereby the flow as directed by his Inner Master is of the essence, and mind has no role to play.

Believing that the reality of life is only in the present and that true knowledge is derived from the analysis and internalization of experience, Sesatre cultivates constant awareness of things and energies at work within as well as around him. On the other hand the dwelling on the mental concepts of past and future, cause a lot of unnecessary miseries. He is convinced that music in general and the sound of the Bansuri in particular can heal the human soul and release the mind from its constant inner struggles.

His talents, however, do not end here…he also plays fusion music, composes light music, spa music, Malay tunes, advertising jingles and he writes music. He also performs in classical Bharatanatyam shows, plays Hindustani music, Pakistani Qawwali and Bhajans at private functions.

And… whenever opportunities arise, he manifests his talent as sound creator and engineer as well.

In 2008, 7th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, Malaysia for “Let’s Go Mamak” Show at KLPAC

In December 2007, successful completion of the Astro organized training conducted by the three well known Indian film music directors Bharatwaj, Dhina and Ramesh Vinagem.
In July 2012, representing Malaysia in the Asean Music Camp organized by the by Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia.
